In modern warfare, it’s not just about who has the biggest bombs — it’s about who controls the story.
Iranian state TV was hacked on Wednesday night, and instead of the usual government-approved programming, viewers were shown footage of women’s protests from 2022, and urged to rise up against the regime and take to the streets.
An embarrassing hack? Sure. But more than that, it was further evidence that cyberwarfare also has its part to play in trying to control the narrative.
Normal programming was returned within a few minutes, and Tehran blamed the attack on Israeli-backed hackers.
